Just before departure, the jeep packed to the gills with all of our supplies for us and the dogs, George(the brindle, 4 months old) was bouncing around as usual from the excitement of being outside without a leash on, and Frasier (the fawn, 8 years old) was shunning the camera, because at this point he was still under the impression that we were leaving him for a very long time.
Once in the car, George was cheery as usual and Frasier's attitude did a 180 once I put him in the Jeep. Knowing that he was going for a car ride, he suddenly had a change of heart about sitting for the camera. (For those of you who truly know Frasier, he is a very intelligent dog and is very obvious with his emotions. He speaks not only with his attitude, but he will often throw looks of disapproval at you like a Hollywood diva.)
The "Boys" were pretty happy once they learned they were going on a road trip; however, when it came to jockeying for sleeping positions... things got a little complicated and positions got a little awkward.
Eventually the "two i-dots" as I like to refer to them, settled down and found a place to rest. Although any time we stop for a restroom break its like having twin 3 yr. olds (the middle picture is taken at the first rest stop, just inside the New Mexico boarder). But, eventually we made it into Albuquerque, took the "i-dots" for a walk (to tire them out), went to "Trader Joes" (which is an awsome little grocery store where you can pick up some very unique items), and settled in to our first hotel room (we found that Hampton Inns usually allow dogs under 70 lbs. to stay for free. Frasier just making the cut).
AWw, I'm so glad you started a blog Mike!!! Keep it up, I loved reading about your adventure with Frasier and George!! Man, Frasier has aged, he looks like a grandpa...makes me tear up looking at him, we all miss him so much. I'm glad he gets to grow old with you Mike. Have a great trip, can't wait for the next post!
